The inspiring story of Robert Downey Jr

We all love RDJ, for those of you who don't know him- He's the Iron man or Tony Stark, whichever you prefer. His life story is one of the most inspiring ones according to me because,
Starting out from scratch is much easier than starting over.

Robert Downey Jr was born to Robert Downey Sr and Elsie Ann Ford in 1965. Both his parents were actors, his father also being a director. His dad was a drug addict and he made Downey also to take drugs at the tender age of six. Slowly, the habit of taking drugs grew on him and he was an addict by the age of 8 itself. But there's also a good thing his dad did, i.e, introduced him into acting by giving him minor roles as a child artist in his own movies.

Cut to adulthood, despite the drug habits he landed many good roles and also gave a lot of successful movies such as 'Less than zero', 'Air America, 'Chances Are', etc. His role in the movie 'Charlie Chaplin' garnered critical acclaim and an Academy Award nomination. However, 1996 is the year when his downfall began. He was sent to jail numerous times on charges related to drugs. The next five years, all he had to deal with, in life was jail and rehab. In these tough times, people around him, his close friends and well-wishers gradually started giving up on him. Amongst them were also his wife Debora Falconer who left him in 2001, amidst his last arrest and an extended stay in rehab. In an article for 'People' his mom said he suffered from Bipolar disorder, Critics slammed him badly and he was almost banned from Hollywood.

After that, RDJ decided to rebuild his career and work towards a complete recovery from drugs. With only a few people left to support him and absolutely no money, there was also a time when he worked washing dishes at a Pizza outlet. Then he got a chance to work on a music video called 'I want love'. Then RDJ returned to movies with 'The Singing Detective' with the help of Mel Gibson. This landed him many more good movies such as 'Gothika', where he met and started dating his current wife Susan, 'Good night, and Good luck' and many more.

But it was in 2008 that his career graph spiked and reached its peak with 'Iron Man'. It proved to be a major game changer in his life- The first huge blockbuster in his career, Global fame and also made him one of the highest paid actors in the industry.

All he is now is all because of that comeback and his desire to prove the world wrong. It was not easy but not impossible at the same time. He raised from the lowest of lows to highest possible heights, and that's what I call determination.

Remember that just because you hit bottom doesn't mean you have to stay there.
